“We Play Better Than We Cook” is Burnt Biskits’ first studio album, released in 2008, and is still our best-selling album. The collection of eclectic tunes includes bluegrass, jazz, comedy, folk, blues as well as gospel and classic rock covers. Several original tunes from band leader John Pierce include Mr. Taxman, Fargo Storyteller and Mother’s Day Waltz, all fan favorites. Musicians who played on this album include Lincoln, Nebraska musicians John Pierce, Janice Jillson, Gary Hinkley, Steve Kehler, Steve Hanson, Jeff Bredthauer, Terry Keefe, Cloy Stutzman and the late, great Jerry Spahn.
Released in 2016, Burnt Biskits’ “Smokin’” album is a mix of mostly bluegrass tunes and a few fun originals. This album was recorded live in a studio in Lincoln Nebraska with musicians John Pierce, Janice Jillson, Gary Hinkley, Susanne Hinkley, Steve Jensen, Thad Miller, Matt Dwyer, Colin Flynn and special guest David Miller. This recording method features no over-dubbing so that we could capture the music as it was being created. The album features some hot pickin’ (enough to generate smoke!) from some of Nebraska’s top musicians.
